...to the home for the British independent film production company Coffee Films. Established as a short film collective playing with camcorders in 1996, Coffee Films incorporated in 2003 and within a year was recognised as one of Europe's leading young production companies. Progressing to documentaries on music and wildlife we gained critical acclaim for the film Last of the Scottish Wildcats as only the second company to film Britain's rarest mammal. Well into our second decade we're currently producing a slate of exciting feature length projects including The Death and Resurrection Show on the influential post-punk/industrial band Killing Joke, Lucid a psychological drama/thriller, more wildlife projects and a series of black comedy genre movies. We're looking forward to continuing to create outstanding independent films for another ten years, still motivated by the words of Francis Ford Coppola that set us on our way; "One day some little fat girl in Ohio is gonna be the new Mozart, and make a beautiful film with her little father's camera corder and for once the so called professionalism about movies will be destroyed, forever, and it will really become an artform." We've tried to keep it in mind. Enjoy your stay. |

APRIL UPDATES
APRIL 7th 2012
Moving into a busy Summer period we're casting Lucid, wrapping up post production and planning the release of The Death and Resurrection Show Cinematic Cut and getting busy on a whole new co-production with underground filmmaking team MileStone Productions on a black comedy with a dark twist shooting in the next few months. Of course we're also getting prepped for Cannes and a small mountain of meetings with sales agents and distributors on all the above. More detailed updates below and drop by Facebook or Twitter for regular news and thoughts.
LUCID: THRILLER FEATURE FILM
APRIL 7th 2012Lucid is a $2m gripping psychological thriller feature set in the Scottish Highlands written by our old friend James Hancock and directed by French music video and commercials director Nicolas Fogliarini. We're also joined by Xavier Gens as executive director and a truly stellar cast and crew we can reveal in detail very soon. Scheduled to go into pre-production this year for shooting and release in 2013; check out a mood establishing teaser trailer with a stand-in cast on the Lucid mini-site.
KILLING JOKE MUSIC DOCUMENTARY
APRIL 7th 2012The Death and Resurrection Show, a feature length music documentary on the legendary British post-punk band Killing Joke is in the final stages of post production and getting ready for release. Besides a couple of exclusive previews for fans of the band in the UK and New Zealand a theatrical release of a 2 hour Cinematic Cut is planned around Summer throughout the UK and selected cities worldwide. DVD and Blu-Ray will follow shortly afterwards to eventually include both the Cinematic Cut and a 3 hour Director's Cut. This is a project we're really proud to have been involved in and is shaping up to be one of the most creative, unique and stand out music documentaries ever made, about a band that is like no other. Check out a trailer and clip on the Killing Joke Documentary mini-site.
WHOOPS!
APRIL 7th 2012Representing the beginning on an ongoing partnership we've teamed up with underground collective MileStone Productions who have gained something of a reputation for black comedy themed very British takes on classic genre subjects. Best known for their Zomblogalypse web series (screened on our short film site Coffee Shorts), Whoops! is a modern day tale set in an Ealing styled world following an accidental serial killer through an incredibly dark comedy which is shooting this Summer; lots more info and mini site coming soon.
WILDLIFE DOCUMENTARIES
APRIL 7th 2012Last of the Scottish Wildcats is still available on DVD from ourselves and all good retailers, and has developed quite a legacy over the last few years, inspiring offers of substantial grant support for the species from funders in the USA which has lead to a huge project being developed by the Scottish Wildcat Association to try and save them. Over 2012/2013 we will be putting together a series of documentaries on little known wild cats around the world, hoping to work a similar magic in the fortunes of some other amazing species, more news as the project develops later in the year.
SHORT FILMS AND MUSIC VIDEOS
APRIL 7th 2012Although a bit of a rarity these days we still get involved in the occasional short film or music video if we've got a good concept. Currently we're supporting production of The Journey, a new short from our friends at Crestfallen (who made Plaster, Paper...), still editing the often shelved Dealer project, a crossover no budget analogue/digital mini-feature and are playing around with a couple of other concepts in the vein of our multi-award winning How to Disappear Completely; more details as they come, more music videos for Burning Shapes soon too and possibly a web series concept we're looking into.
