Drugs do kill, they kill all the time, we do not advocate drugs use, but we do believe that ignorance is one of the biggest killers, and that simple prohibition doesn't work. Deaths by drugs in the UK per year (average figures for 2000-2002) Heroin doesn't generally kill, death is caused by impurities such as glass and sand added to it by dealers and suppliers, leading to suggestions that it be legalised and regulated; medical grade heroin is considered less addictive than cigarettes. Ecstasy doesn't generally kill, death is caused by heatstroke; dancing for too long in one go without water can easily cause this, however drinking too much water can also kill you (you should drink no more than a pint every hour, this is the most the human body can process). Ecstasy can relieve the effects of Parkinson's Disease. Marijuana can relieve the symptoms of neuropathic pain, arthritis, asthma, glaucoma, and nausea, it is an appetite stimulant for those suffering from HIV, the AIDS wasting syndrome, and dementia, current research is showing that it may help protect the body against cancer and treat a huge range of other illnesses, one doctor stated "Marijuana will be the wonder drug of the next century". Portugal has recently decided that the war on drugs has failed, decriminalised posession and use of most drugs (including cocaine, heroin, and amphetamines as well as marijuana), and diverted the money saved to drug rehabilitation and treatment. In Holland usage of hard drugs has significantly dropped since marijuana was decriminalised, and figures show that only about 16% of Dutch people have tried marijuana; compared to about 28% of the UK and nearly 33% of the USA. Just to reiterate; drugs and their side effects do kill and can have a wide range of very negative side effects, even so called "safe" drugs like marijuana; we do not advocate drugs use, but we do believe that ignorance is one of the biggest killers and that simple prohibition doesn't work. The above information is intended to help and inspire the reader to educate themselves into a better informed opinion and perspective on drugs. Make up your own mind.

"I, as a responsible adult human being, will never concede the power to anyone to regulate my choice of what I put into my body, or where I go with my mind. From the skin inwards is my jurisdiction, is it not? I choose what may or may not cross that border, here I am the customs agent, I am the coastguard, I am the sole legal and spiritual government of this territory, and only the laws I choose to enact within myself are applicable" |
